"I wish the country could crack down on kids taking drugs and smoking" an eleven year old from Winship Magnet School wrote.

"My wish is to have safer streets" wrote a twelve year old.

Celebration of Kids Voting Day, Tuesday September 26, 2000 featured wishes for our country written by children and hung on a tree in downtown Macon, a string quartet from Central High School playing the National Anthem, and awards for the winners of the poster design contest sponsored by Georgia Power.

Without a doubt, though the day was made even more special by the heartfelt wishes of our school children.
